By the time Glee club disbanded for another day Puck wanted nothing more than to just go home and mope for a while, but he had agreed to start planning the duet with Rachel, their holiday song, and there was no way she would let him out of it.

Staying seated in his chair, he watched the rest of the kids filter out with only him, Rachel and Finn remaining behind along with Mr. Schue. Looking over at Rachel, he could see her trying to explain to Finn that she was staying behind and, presumably, the he didn’t need to wait for her. Or, maybe, that she didn’t want him too. It would have been an interesting conversation to hear, but to attempt to get closer to eavesdrop would be like caring, and Puck didn’t want to put himself on anyone else’s radar right now. Everyone else either didn’t notice he was in a foul mood or they just didn’t care, and he planned to keep it that way.

“Mr. Schue,” he said instead, getting out of his seat and approaching their instructor. “Rachel and I wanna work on our song, so can we just hang around here a bit?”

A bit surprised by Puck’s suddenly courteous behaviour, it took Will a minute to respond. “Sure, the room is all yours,” he finally said, looking especially pleased that the boy was showing some initiative for once. “I’ve got some papers to mark, so just let me know when you’re done, or just shut the door on your way out.”
